The British police officer was under tremendous pressure because of the post he held in Burma. Although he was not a supporter of the British project in Burma he knew the importance and the integrity of the position. He was on the side of the Burmese people but one thing he truly wanted to void was a situation where he would be mocked by the Burmese population. He said that the Burmese were better than the British in mocking people.
